GPO Pricing

GPO stands for “Group Purchasing Organization.” They define themselves as, “providing strategic partnerships with healthcare providers that create new revenue streams and also reduce expenses, allowing for improved operating margins for the healthcare providers, while GPO members enjoy value added benefits like clinical support, benchmarking data, supply chain support and comprehensive portfolios of products and services to address specific needs.

 

Simply put, participants in the Healthcare Supply Chain join together to establish and negotiate discounted pricing on goods and services to reduce cost and provide value. Selected distributors are awarded the right to access vendor contracts negotiated by the GPOs with the vendors, and pay fees based on distributed sales.”
